Troubleshooting#

A snippet does not print. Run Tools → Test a URL (or wp bb-snippets test-url /the/page/). If it is not listed, check on its edit screen: published, active, an environment that includes this site, not expired, and a rule that matches. A snippet with only exclusion rules prints nowhere.

"Paused" notice. Simple Custom CSS and JS is still active. Deactivate it.

A conditional rule never matches. It uses something the parser does not accept; the warning says what. Rewrite it with the allowed tags and fixed arguments, or define BB_SNIPPETS_EVAL_CONDITIONALS.

Changes made with SQL do not show. They are picked up by the fingerprint check within five minutes on the front end, at once on the next admin page load, or with wp bb-snippets rebuild.

A page still shows old code. It is cached somewhere BB Snippets does not purge (a CDN without BB Cache's purge mirror, a browser). Linked files change URL when their content changes; inline code needs the page purged.

A SASS/LESS snippet shows "does not compile". The message has the compiler's error and line (for theme files, counted from the top of the file). Pages keep the last version that compiled until it is fixed. @import finds partial snippets by their file name and files in the theme snippet folders.

A theme file snippet does not print. wp bb-snippets files or Snippets → Theme files shows why: no Snippet: line (not a snippet), no Where: line, a header value it did not understand, or a database snippet with the same key (the database wins; trash it to let the file take over).

The manifest is stored as an option. wp-content/cache/bb-snippets is not writable by PHP. It works, at the cost of loading the option on each request.
